Once a month (close to the full moon) we do a Day of Reflection which is an adaptation of the ancient Fusatsu or renewing of vows ceremony. We start the day of reflection by chanting the precepts and resolving to focus on one precept for the day. In the evening we do a modified Fusatsu ceremony including a circle. During the circle we have a chance to share our experience and insight that came with the day of reflection.
PRECEPT FOR EACH MONTH
January 30, 2013
Non-killing, not leading a harmful life nor encouraging others to do so. I will recognize that I am not separate from all that is. I will live in harmony with all life and the environment which sustains it.
February 27, 2013
Non-stealing. I will be satisfied with what I have. I will freely give, ask for, and accept what is needed.
March 27, 2013
Chaste conduct. I will encounter all creations with respect and dignity. I will give and accept love and friendship without clinging.
