Sweetwater Zen Center, named after the Sweetwater River that runs nearby, contains 11 residential cottages, a meditation hall, office, eating facilities, a Zendo Yurt, and a large 1/2 acre backyard complete with flower gardens and vegetable plots.
After purchasing the property in 2000, we have completed a great deal of property improvements. We have completely replaced most of the roofs, refinished all of the beautiful hardwood foors, repaired most of the water damaged bathrooms and kitchens, as well as repainting all of the interiors.

We are most proud of our beautiful back garden which was donated by Mukan and Larry Drown. The gardens in front of the Buddha Hall was created by and is being maintained by our oldest resident, Mary Fowlkes (84), Seisen's Mother. We are now in the process of remodeling the Zendo so there will be more room as the membership expands. |
